WHAT TO WEAR TO A BARRE CLASS

Let’s be honest, there’s a lot going through our minds when we’re about to try something for the first time.

‘Will I fit in? Can I actually do this class? What if I look like an idiot? Omg I might die.’ But the first thing that often pops up for new barre class clients is what on earth to wear?

Here’s the deal

First up, a barre class isn’t a dance class, and doesn’t actually have any dancing in it. Instead barre workouts are more similar to Pilates classes, concentrating on technique, form, and posture.

Most barre classes, like the MBODY Beat class are low impact, or offer low impact options, which means minimal jumping, so they can be done without trainers. Instead clients wear sticky socks, which enable them to safely grip the floor without slipping.

In order to check your posture and make sure you’re doing the moves right, form-fitting clothes (similar to yoga) are often the top choice.

Here at MOHIITO we love to check our clients' form and make sure they’re doing the movements correctly, so wearing clothes that lets us see how you move will actually help you get a better workout!

Our go-to clothes for a barre class

  • A good bra - because everything’s better when you’ve got support, right?

  • Workout leggings, ideally something that lets you move freely and feel comfortable in

  • A workout top or vest that’s breathable. Yes barre class looks easy, but trust us, you WILL sweat!  (Our MBODY Burn class is a HIIT class using all your favourite moves from barre class, you have been warned!)

Which reminds us, BYO water bottle (let’s save the planet while we barre).
